Summer Fun with Grandma

Summertime is a good time to be with grandchildren. We have been going many places. When Sabre got here the first place we went was Kysa's First Birthday Party which was a great way to start our summer activities. Then we had our trip to the cabins. It was the best time, we spent 10 days. Then we came home and went to the movies the first night that "Dark Knight" was out. We went to the Pioneer Day Parade and after that the Joos Family Reunion at Aunt Darlene's. Grandma had to work during the fun campout for girls so Bekkie agreed to take Sabre and Christina. Sabre and Christina are great campers and can put up our big tent faster than anybody. They finished off their time together with a couple days at Lagoon. We dropped Sabre off at the Airport on August 3rd. We had such fun and look forward to next year!!

Trevor, Gavin, Paxton, Wyatt, Kysa and Josh have been to Treehouse Museum a couple times with Grandma. The last time they did a play on stage where Paxton had a lead part as a shepherd. He was a great actor until the end when he found out that he got the princess' hand in marriage. He didn't quite feel up to marrying anybody at five years old. Trevor and Wyatt were very believable as the King's guards. Wyatt favorite part of the Treehouse Museum is the fire truck. He loves to dress up like a fireman and crank up the old firetruck and drive it to the fire.

We spent a day at the railroad museum. All the grandchildren (except Sabre) and Grandma, Aunt Amber, Aunt Katie and Aunt Christina had a great time. The boys mostly liked to play on the trains which made us all nervous because Wyatt insisted on following the big boys climbing high on the trains but he wasn't careful. We lurked under him all the time ready to catch him and did many times. They really liked the model trains and we spent a long time trying to follow the various trains.

We also went to the Weber County Fair. The petting zoo was great. We got to see and pet many different kinds of animals. There were many signs that told us all about the animals. Two of our favorites were a loooonnnnggggg horned big steer and a tiny buffalo calf.

We went to Antelope Island yesterday. We saw a lot of buffalo and antelope. We had a picnic and played in the sand. Josh loves to dig and play in the sand. He was so fun to watch as he tried to walk in the deep sand and then he would just dig and fill buckets and buckets over and over again. Gavin was so busy we couldn't get him to eat the picnic. Aunt Amber showed everybody how to fly kites. Christina got a kite up all by herself and flew it out to the end of the string. We are bringing a longer string next time.

We hope to do some camping at Willards Bay (Thursday the 21st) before school starts. There will be trips to the park and Lagoon before then, too. Our Summer Fun with Grandma comes to an end with school starting on August 25. (Sabre had to go back to school already.)
